SUBSTITUTE NURSE

 

Position Title:           Substitute Nurse

Reports To:               Director of Student Services and Respective Building Principal

FLSA Status:             Non-Exempt

Length of Contract:  As Needed

 

SUMMARY:

The Substitute School Nurse, under the supervision of the Director of Student Services in conjunction with the Building Principal, is responsible for using his/her clinical knowledge and judgment to promote a public school health program to scholars and staff, perform health screenings, and serve as the liaison between school personnel, family, and healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environment.  The Substitute Nurse’s primary responsibility is to promote and provide a safe public school health program for scholars. (The Substitute Nurse functions in the role of the Building Nurse when the Building Nurse is unavailable.)

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

The Substitute Nurse will be evaluated by the Director of Student Services in conjunction with the Building Principal, in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:

Valid Nursing License; Pass all appropriate background checks.

The position requires the individual to sometimes work irregular or extended work hours in order to meet demands of the position.
