BUS DRIVER

 

Position Title:           Bus Driver

Reports To:               Director of Transportation

FLSA Status:             Non-Exempt

Length of Contract:  180 Days (Salary and work year to be established by the Board of

                                                               Education.)

 

SUMMARY:

The Bus Driver, under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, is responsible for operating school buses at a rate of speed considered safe, as dictated by road and weather conditions.  He/she represents the South Conway County School District by communicating with scholars and the public through his/her interaction with others on the job.  The Bus Driver’s primary responsibility is to maximize safety while driving and supervising scholars in his/her care.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

The Bus Driver will be evaluated by the Director of Transportation, in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:

Hold a current Certified Drivers License; Pass a physical from a certified practitioner; Pass all appropriate background checks; Previous school bus driving experience preferred.

The ability to travel to other buildings or local training sites may be required for professional development opportunities. The position requires the individual to sometimes work irregular or extended work hours in order to meet demands of the position.
