PARAPROFESSIONAL - SPECIAL EDUCATION (MORRILTON PRIMARY SCHOOL)

 

Position Title:          Paraprofessional Instructional (Special Education)

Reports To:              Building Principal

FLSA Status:            Non-exempt

Length of Contract: 180  (Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.)

 

SUMMARY:

The Paraprofessional (Instructional- Special Education), under the supervision of the Building Principal, is responsible for aiding and supporting teachers and other licensed personnel in the implementation of the instructional program and related services for identified scholars.  The Paraprofessional’s (Instructional - Special Education) primary responsibility is to work collaboratively with the teachers and licensed personnel to maximize safety, learning, and achievement for each identified and assigned scholar.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

The Paraprofessional (Instructional - Special Education) will be evaluated by the Building Principal, in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Demonstrates relentless commitment to safety, learning, and academic achievement of all scholars by actively participating in the Professional Learning Community Process and carrying out assigned responsibilities to contribute the mission of the South Conway County School District.
  • Demonstrates effective customer service to all district patrons.
  • Reinforces instructional activities with scholars as prescribed.
  • Prepares instructional materials as directed by supervisor.
  • Assumes responsibility for being prepared to perform instructional duties as prescribed.
  • Learns the reading and math frameworks for the grades assigned.
  • Assists with duties such as lunchroom, recess, or bus duty.
  • Completes daily work schedules as assigned.
  • Participates in staff meetings as directed by supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal.
  • Assists classroom teacher with implementation of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) for special needs students.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have an Associate’s Degree, 60 hours of college credit, or meet minimum qualifications on the paraprofessional examination; Pass all appropriate background checks.

The position requires the individual to sometimes work irregular or extended work hours in order to meet demands of the position.
